Honestly, I never heard about this COP before. But when I read
about it, I realize that I have been involved in this community of practice since
I was in the primary school, or even in the kindergarten.

So, what is COP???

Communities of Practice (CoP) are collaborative, informal
networks that support professional practitioners in their efforts to develop
shared understandings and engage in work-relevant knowledge building

Communities of practice are formed by people who engage in a
process of collective learning in a shared domain of human endeavor: a tribe
learning to survive, a band of artists seeking new forms of expression, a group
of engineers working on similar problems, a clique of pupils defining their
identity in the school, a network of surgeons exploring novel techniques, a
gathering of first-time managers helping each other cope. In a nutshell:
Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion
for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.

When I reflect
back during the last 13 weeks in this course, I can see that all of us in this
cohort are pretty much engage and involve in COP. Don’t you think so?

Firstly, throughout this course we have been using the
windows live as the medium for us to share ideas, opinions and also reflect our
feelings and emotions. Through windows live, we can connect and help each other
in term of assignments and also tasks. We can have group discussion and also
QnA session in windows live to solve any problem regarding the assignments or
tasks. From this, we can see that through windows live, we as cohort 4 can work
as a big unit and not being separated individually.

Besides that, this course also requires us to do a lot of
group works. When we are divided into groups, we will appreciate that small
community within the group and the sense of togetherness will be arising. We will
work hand-in-hand and cooperate to complete the task given. For instance, for
the video kit assignment we need to complete the package as a group even though
the video production is an individual task. So, in order to produce the good
package, we will discuss and share ideas to get the best way in presenting the
package. I can see that teamwork and cooperation from each group member is
really important to produce the best result in anything that we do.

These are just a few example of COP that I have been gone
through. For me, COP is essential to make us better person because we cannot
live alone, we need other people to support us, in other word we need a
community to make us better.
